Replace shims on LS430 when replacing brakes?

I have a 01 LS430 and am close to changing brakes. Can you use the old shims or do you have to replace with new ones as the manual suggests........Thanks

you can re-use the shims if they are not bent out of shape...
just bend the tabs inwards a bit so it holds onto the brake pad better... and it's a good idea to use a tiny little bit of the toyota brake grease between the shims and pads, and between the shim and caliper... that brake grease is teh shizzle... 08887-80609
