1996 LS400 intermintent rattle issue from motor
Hello
I recently purchased a 1996 LS400 with 103,000 miles and it has already had the 90k maintenance performed.
Motor runs awesome however i can tell that it needs a valve shimming and some other minor things.
HOWEVER
Something that is driving me wacky is when the car is sitting and idling, there is this strange intermintent rattle or scrapping noise coming from somewhere in the front of the motor.
It might last a couple seconds and then it isn't there again for a bit and then comes back again. Any ideas?
Thanks

I have something like this in my RX300, but it is really only apparent in Park and at startup and is related to a sticky lifter, but in Drive I don't notice it. I plan to flush out the engine on the weekend, using some dino oil and a little ATF fluid (great solvent) for about 15 minutes to hopefully clean off the issue, otherwise will have to go in and perform surgery on the issue.
