I agree! I have the redline 75w-90. One sniff of differential fluid and you might lose your appetite for a week! I know I did..I couldn't eat my fried chicken my family bought that day

Haha. Yeah that stuff is really rancid smelling. It's a messy job, too.

How's "Royal Purple" 75w-90 sound? I bought 1 quart and need another. Anyone use this before?

I originally replaced factory fill with Mobil1 around 60k miles. I will be replacing it with RP this summer. my odo now reads just shy of 115k miles. I have heard nothing but good things about RP gear oil both here and on BITOG.

Thanks. I can't say that my fluid has ever been changed and it's at 155k. I can imagine that my car will be much happier

I'm doing mine either this weekend or next. I got 125K on my '99 GS4. I've got soo many DIY jobs to do in the next few weeks. I just got my new ball joints and tie rods from Sewell so I got those to do. I am getting my Timing belt and waterpump replaced this weekend - not comfortable enough to do THAT myself - and my rear bumper repainted. I'm changing my front rotors and pads - probably while I do the joints and rods. Whew! I will be posting DIY pics and instructions for whatever I can.

Does anyone know how much fluid the rear diff holds? I guess my real question is......how many drain & fills does it take to get most of the old fluid out?

Also, if I can't get my hands on Redline, would Mobil1 75w-90 oil be ok? http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/..._75W-90LS.aspx

yes, Mobil1 will work beautifully...

one drain and fill - none stays in the diff housing when drained... (though I like to pour a little fresh in while the drain plug is still out to wash out the bottom)

I was at the local AutoZone & Strauss. Royal Purple? Redline? The guy looked at me like I was an alien.

But luckily they had Mobil1 75W-90. Grabbed the last 2 bottles! I give up finding these "premium" oil. I'll get what I can. I'm tired of hunting.

I have used Mobil 1 synthetic oils for all my cars and they always perform perfectly.
I would love to use Royal Purple and Redline but the price and availablity is what keeps me using Mobil 1. I love going to any store and picking up what I need when I need it!
