Default Tdc

Well my son blew a head gasket on his 93 ES 300 V6 no long story went to put the # 1 on TDC and found that the Rubber on the crank pully was gone I mean GONE outer race was free OK got a new one the Hayes book says to line up the marks did that install the cams with the dots togother on the cam did that and the #1 pistons at the top of the cyl installed new timing belt everything is still lined up went to install the distributer. it seems to be 180 out when we took off the cap the #1 spark lead was up on the cap now to install the cap the #1 lead needs to be down. did we goof or what we went by the hayes book said Help Al
