Default Tire Rotation Pattern?

I'm finally getting close to my initial service - which just happens to be the ONLY "extra" the dealer threw in, unless you count free car washes - and now remember reading the section regarding tire rotation.

If memory serves, I believe it stated that if you purchased the full-sized spare tire that you might consider implementing it into the rotation.

Any thoughts?

you can use the full size spare if you like... I have never been a proponent of it, but different people have different opinions of it... It's just way easier to keep track of a four tire rotation versus a five tire rotation, plus I'm not sure you gain a lot - when it does come time to buy new tires, you may be buying 5 tires... if you only buy 4, then you won't be doing 5 tire rotations anymore... Then, I don't think you will gain an extra 20% of tire life by adding in that 5th tire....

bah...

+1 - Leave the spare out of the rotation.

Yea, i have to agree here. Just do your standard front to back, back to front rotation if you have directional tires. A lot of people are a fan of front to back, and crossing the rears side to side when they go to the front. This can obviously only be used if the tires are non-directional. Keep your spare in the trunk and use it as a spare.
