What size wrench do I need to remove the rear calipers in order to change the pads and rotors? Where can I find instructions on what and how to lubricate the brakes so that they wear evenly and do not sieze?

Also, how do I know if I have a "6Cyl 3.0L Base" or a "6Cyl 3.0L "Gas, FI, 1MZFE" Base"?

2 pins connect the caliper to the bracket. grease both top and bottom. not sure of size should be 12mm or14mm. did you compare part numbers between base and the other? maybe its the same.

I think the slide pin is 12mm. The bracket is 14mm.
Make SURE you do NOT overtorque the 12mm bolts!!!

Thank you for the reply. The top 14mm bolt is tough to get to because the brake line is in the way and the socket can't get in there. Should I use an extension?

most of the time you only need to take one pin out and slide the caliper up and out....

I have replaced the pads and retracted the piston but I can't get the caliper to swing back down because it hits where the 12mm slide pin should go. Does the 12mm shim retract also?

How do I get the rotors off? Should they come right off or are they secured in any way?

you slide the slide pin in. for the rotor you will have to take off the caliper bracket. Im not sure if the es uses the caliper for ebrake or the rotor as ebrake. but just mkae sure its not engaged. if there are 2 threaded holes on the front of the rotor you can put in 2 bolts and slowly turn in one at a time to remove rotor. or if your replacing it you can hammer the crap out of them. they dont feel pain. I can give better instructions if there were some pics...

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what size bolt to use to remove the rotor? 12mm is too large, is it 10mm? I will need to buy the correct size because I do not have a collection of bolts to try.

I got the rotor off. I banged it on the face until it became loose. You can see in the pic that the new rotor is on. I started a new thread because I could not see how to add an image to the previous thread.

But the 12mm pin does not line up when I install the new pads and swing the caliper down. It is as if the outer pad is too wide because the pin lines up if I replace the new outer pad with the old pad. I compressed the main piston until it is flush. What do I need to do to make it line up? Do I put brake grease on the 12mm pin once it is lined up? How much do I put on?

on the slide pin. the part that touches the caliper, is it round or is there a flat part? if theirs a flat part it should be facing up.

It is hard for me to understand the flat versus the round question but I think it is installed correctly because I put it on the exact way I took it off.

There is the guide with the rubber boot on the caliper that the 12mm bolt fits into. The 12mm bolt fits through the guide from the inside and threads into caliper. Do I compress that guide with the rubber boot to account for the wider pads? The guide bangs into the caliper rather than to fit properly.

you should be able to push it back with your hand. just to make it go through. its gonna go back toward the opposite way once you start tightening it anyway . you can put alittle grease on the bolt.
