Rattle around Glove box & sun roof
Ok this is beginning to bug me like hell. I have a rattle around the glove box area in my car. I can't seem to pin point exactly where but I know this was one of those things that had been mentioned a few years back. My question is has anyone fixed this item himself or herself? What is involved? My next problem is the sunroof shade...it seems to be rattling because it is not completely tight to stop the rattle I either have to push it back all the way every 15 minutes or close it. Is there a way to tighten it? Thanks.

I had a noise in the sunroof when I drove but it sounded more like a popping/clicking noise. When I had it in to get fixed, the loaner they gave me had the same problem.
They tried to fix it by shortening/tightening the cables that move the roof. It has reduced the frequency of the noise but it's still there. Really annoying. I'm going to have them attack it again when I'm in for an oil change. I'm tired of going back for it (twice so far). The first time they ended up breaking the seal resulting in wind blowing in my face.
Good luck with it. I'd take it to the dealer because it's covered under your warranty.

i hate taking it back to the dealership they are located 60 miles away! I would rather attack it myself...

GS400TRD, the glovebox rattle is apparently endemic to the GS; my 430 had it within a couple of weeks of delivery. Dealer took it out, felted the space, replaced box. No more rattle.
But my sunroof shade does the same damn thing yours does: little soft ticking sound. I'll be going to the dealer in a few weeks for routine stuff, plus it sounds like I'm beginning to have a replay of the loose sway bar bracket bolts, and I'll post what they do.

ok. I guess I'll try to take the box out myself. They already did do the felt thing once back in 2000, but I hate going there just to do this. So I am going to DIY and see what happens. I thought they would have fixed it by the gs430....the thing that really annoyed me was this past weekend when my sister visited, she was drving my old 95 accord v6 I gave her, not a single rattle and it has over 100k miles on it!!!
