I use conventional for spring and summer and switch back to synthetic during winter.

I personally go the first 15k miles on conventional oil then I switch the synthetic. Es[ecially with the extra hot summers in AZ I need all of the viscosity and breakdown protection as I can . Bottom line is synthetics will always give you better resesitance to heat and inernal engine wear.

total myth. you can flip flop back and forth all you want.

steviej.

I use synthetic for one main reason. It gets pretty cold hear in the winter and synthetic stays more fluid than conventional at low temperatures thus reducing engine wear on cold starts.

Honestly i dont think driving a car in arizona would impact the oil temperature. Once the car is warmed up its gonna be hotter then then outside air temperature.

The only time i could see synthetic oil helping you is if your driving a 1000hp supra or something. Normal cars just dont need synthetic oil.

It's really ironic too, because for people like us who change our oil regularly (or even on a schedule) synthetic oil has like zero benefits. Synthetic oil is better for people who dont do regular maintenance.

Synthetic oil is a waste of money on 99.9% of street cars. You will never drive a Lexus hard enough to reap any benefits from it. In extreme cold it does flow better.

If you had a supercharged or turboed car at high boost levels with extreme loads placed on everything, it would probably be a good idea to use a full synthetic oil. Towing a large trailer places high loads on parts and synthetic is great for that application.

I know two people that drove over 450,000 miles on an original engine and never even took the heads off. A 460 Ford Ranchero and a 350 Chevy Silverado and both ran regular oil.

If it makes you feel beter, use it, but I doubt that you will seen any benefits from it.
