Default Transmission issues

I have a 94 ES300 with roughly 120k. The overdrive light was flashing on the dash on Friday on my way home. I have not seen this happen previously. I drove roughly 5 miles with the light flashing. The engine light also came on. However, the engine light had been on a couple weeks earlier. A code check two weeks earlier revealed that it was the O2 sensor. I drove the car Saturday and five minutes into my commute it would not shift into gear. I could drive in reverse though. I had the car towed to a transmission shop. They mentioned that the transmission fluid was burnt. They mentioned the code revealed a bad O2 sensor and a bad speed sensor. They want $500 for further diagnostics (which requires taking it apart) which will be credited towards the final bill if they repair it.

I'm concerned and I'm seeking opinions from others.

Thanks in advance.

well, it's either have your trans repaired or replace it with a used or rebuilt trans...
