Default Steps to checking/fixing power steering leak?

I just got my 98 LS400 back from the car shop (timing belt etc etc) and they said that i have a power steering leak coming from my rack and pinion. Based off what i've been reading its a possibility that the leak could be coming from something not as extensive/serious. Obviously im going to look for leaks and constantly check the fluid level but im wondering if someone has a complete list on what else to check and where to check starting from simple all the way up to the serious.

Well, there really are only a few places it can leak. The rack, the pump, the high pressure hose, the reservoir, and the return hose. If the shop you took it to is reputable, they may be right in saying the rack is leaking. If it were something else, it'd be hard for the leaking fluid to reach the rack simulating a rack leak. The only thing that close, is the high pressure hose. I would check those things out, and go from there.
