i'm pretty shure this is the problem and i've seen people suggest cleaning and oiling it but no one really explained what parts needed to be cleaned. can anyone tell me the procedures on what to clean or how to check if its bad. its on a 93 sc300. thanks

there are multiple failure modes with an IAC... it can just mechanically not work anymore, it can intermittently work, it can become carboned up and minimize air flow...
basically, if you are wanting to clean it, you need to remove it from the throttle body and clean the ports to and from it, as well as the valve itself...
as far as testing, may be difficult, as you probably don't have access to an oscilloscope to test for dwell and duty cycle... if you did, you would check for them to be pulsed to ground, but you would never get a proper reading from a voltmeter...

i read a how to on a tt iac on supra forums and it looked similar so ima try clean it.
