Low Oil Pressure Warning After Lexus Service
I just had my ES 350 serviced by a Lexus dealer in the central fl area a month ago (1000) miles. I was on the highway and my Low Engine Oil warning light came on. So at the next exit I got off I noticed that my engine sounded horrible possibly nocking! so i pulled in to the first parking lot by that time the low oil pressure light was on. I shut the car off as quick as i could and smoke was coming out of the hood. i got out of the car and noticed that the right side of my car was covered in oil as was the trunk of the car. still waiting to hear what the dealer finds as the cause of the problem. I am new to this forum wanting to know if others have heard of this problem, if they think the engine is shot, and if they think the dealer is at fault for a problem like this right after service?

Yes. I drove the LFA.

Wow, well unfortunately it sounds like they left the drain plug loose or maybe the oil filter housing loose. Strange that it took 1000 miles to have this happen though. You havent noticed any oil leaks? If they serviced it 1000 miles ago, it would be hard for them to deny you any warranty repairs, unless they find damage under the car from hitting an object. And even then, you have insurance. Keep us updated as far as what they find. I wouldnt worry about it though, 99.9% sure the dealer will take care of it.

will be interesting to know how this turns out.
Even if they did everything right, there may have been a defective part. Could be the filter itself or other part just blew up.

sounds like you have felt the wrath of the infamous VVTi oil pressure line failure TSB.
This is an issue in which a poorly designed rubber oil line bursts open and expels the vehicles oil out all over the side of the vehicle...
very very common, and definitly covered under warrenty.
get it to the dealer asap

Yeah, high pressure oil line fail. It's located on right hand side cylinder toward the firewall. The line run from the block behind the power steering pump to the top of valve cover(right hand) and when the line is leak, you're talking about a quart per minute or so.
