Odometer Reading
I just purchased a 2006 LX470 as a CPO from a Lexus dealer in Florida. The odometer reads 21,500 but the service history and carfax report show it as over 36,000. Oddly, the 21K reading shows on the CARFAX report when the dealership was first prepping it for sale, then a couple days later, it jumps to over 36K. Is this possibly mechanic's error in entering the reading, or is the odometer reading automatically downloaded when the LX is plugged in to the service computer? Thanks.

Yes. I drove the LFA.

No mileage data is downloaded from the vehicle... The mileage is stored in the instrument cluster. It is possible that the dealership made a mistake on some of the DMV paperwork or in the computer somewhere. I would raise the question to the dealership and see what they have to say about it.

Thanks. I feel better that it is not downloaded, as that would have led me to concerns about rollback. I'm sure it was just an error in entering the mileage. Needs to be corrected though, as Carfax report now shows more mileage than the odometer..and next time it gets recorded correctly, it will flag as a rollback.
