Cool Oil and Filter Change $135.00 RX 330

I am new to the website. This must have been answered already.
Dealer in Naperville, IL charge $135 for oil and filter change. Is this reasonable.

Parts: $23 for mobil 1 full syn...
n maybe $10 for oil filter

$33 in parts alone... ok lets round up 35... so they charge $100 for labor? way to high IMO..

The dealer really banged you over the head to charge AND get that amount of money from you.

If you're an oil tycoon... then no, it's worth every cent to enjoy that fine coffee, donuts, and sit on the leather chairs at the dealership.

You ask, so you must feel you got ripped... which you did. $135? I think most dealers in respectable (atleast in areas with competition) do the change for about $75-80.

Wow, did they hold a gun and wear a mask as they robbed you?

Welcome to Club Lexus.
$135 is a lot. If you have some basic mechanical skills, like un-screwing a bolt, you can pretty much do the oil change at home by yourself without paying Lexus a bunch of money. Here's a comparison:

Oil- $30 at walmart
Filter- $3-5 at walmart or go OEM for the oil filter so thats about $4.xx (it's better to use the OEM filter)
Oil Drain Pan( if you don't have one, this is a one time buy item)- $3
These SUV's are high enough you don't need a jack to lift them you can just crawl underneath.

Compare that to Lexus- $135

Big Difference!

Every couple of months Autozone has a great deal on Mobil oil and filters. Actually they had a sale that ended 1 or 2 days ago.

If you don't want to do the work yourself, just take your RX330 to your local Toyota dealer; it'll cost about $35 there. If the service writer is unsure about being able to work on a Lexus, let him/her know that your RX has the same engine as the Toyota Highlander of the same year.

It really depends... a basic oil and filter change should be anywhere from 49.99 to 89.99... but a minor service, which include a tire rotation, brake inspection, adjustments, etc. runs anywhere from 129.99 to 189.99. So it really depends on the actual service you received.

Arlington Lexus in Palatine only charged me around $40 for my RX. Go there.
