Hi guys, I am shopping for those 5 qt jugs and noticed Castro edge and mobil 1 fully synthetic..

I have always used mobil 1 but wondering if castro edge is better, is it same as "syntec"?

Also there was a bulletin about switching some of the IS and GS to 5W20 a while back (2007) and then I read the forum now and many members are suggesting 5W30 again, was the bulletin wrong? I am using mobil 5W20 and I am thinking of switching back also, since it feels really thin..

ive used both before.. tried the edge cuz supposedly its "better" than the Mobil 1...

I seriously don't know how to measure "better" ... but its good oil i guess.

The bulletin was for 2006 and 2007 2IS, I believe. The bulletin recommends 5W20.

not sure about castrol edge, but i heard great reviews from castrol syntec 0w-30 (german formula)

I am currently running Castrol 0-w30 euro formula and have previously run Royal Purple 5-w30 and my observation is my engine feels a little peppier and stronger in the upper rpm's with the RP. I will be going back to to the royal treatment or amsoil next oil change.

royal purple all the way i have friend that made the switch after i promise them '"if you don't feel the difference ill pay the refund for the royal purple "

now Ive tried Mobil 1 its close 2 for me if there sold out of royal purple ill go for that..as for Castro edge idk , i don't really care for there brand of oil had poor result with them in the past

For me castrol fully synthetic 5w30 runs smoother for me.
