Default 97 es300, p0141

Hello friends,

I recently acquired a 1997 Lexus ES300. On the way home with it, the check engine light came on. I plugged the scanner in and it displayed code P0141.

After consulting the service manual, I found this to be an O2 sensor, Bank 1, Sensor 2. Is this information correct? If so, I assume this is the O2 sensor that is post catalytic converter?

If so, does anyone know the Denso part # for this O2 so I can order it from rockauto? I looked at their site but im unsure of the correct part #.

Thanks.

Yes, it is post cat and the connector run under the driver seat. Please make sure you don't have any exhaust leak before the sensor.

Thanks for confirming that for me. Please let me know if anyone comes across the Denso part # for the sensor.

How do I check for exhaust leaks? Do exhaust leaks usually throw this code up? And when you say the connector runs under the driver seat, do you mean the connector is inside the cars interior under the seat, or under the car's exterior?

And if I unplug the negative battery terminal (for cleaning and clearing the code, as my scanner does not have the clear function) will that mess with the operation of my radio/cd player? I know on some cars it will.

Thanks again.

Yes, the connector for O2 bank 1 sensor 2 in plugged inside the car. You have to lift up the car and following the wire harness.
Sometimes disconnect the battery will not clear the DTC and yes, just reset the clock and radio to your flavor stations...lol.

you will need to remove the driver's seat in order to proper access to the O2 wiring harness....

Actually, the connector and harness can be easily accessed with the seat all the way forward and up. It's right near the floor vents.
