Default The most detailed oil change for GS 400 (with pics).

Okay, here goes. ANy questions, please ask me.
I change my oil every 5k miles.
I use Castrol as I have never had any engine overheating or wear problems since changing my oil in my 1989 Nissan Sentra. The 2 cars with over a million miles use castrol (well the owners).

Fist pic, this is what you need to make it a smooth job (beer not pictured eh Mean Gene, Percy)

damnit Put car on ramps. Get wide ramps as I am running 245s in the front.....If you jack the car, jack on the passenger side as that is where the oil pan is...

The next few pics are off the underbody guard ( the plastic) you need to take 1/2 way off to get to the oil filter. I'll circle one to give you an example of what I am talking about. I take off 4 of them.

I learned from the O.G.s here, they told me take a beer break, I say DO IT!!!

This here is the oli pan, get a wrench thingie and screw off. Put you oil pan (that collects the old oil) not directly under it but in the direction the oil will shoot out.. (kinda like, uhh nevermind)

After you let the oil drain (10 minutes, good for more beer), screw back the bolt on the oil pan. Move your oil pan. On the driver side is the Oil filter, looks like this gentlemen.

***NOTE*** Change you oil when you car is cold, when you have not used it. Otherwise, when it's hot, it makes htings more difficult cause everything is so hot. For instance you would not be able to take off the oil filter with your hands.

Now you can go to the parts dept in the Lexus dealer and buy the OEM filter for $9 or use a Fram or Purolater filter. I have never had a problem with any, though some insist on the OEM filter (the OEM is black, notice the Purolator Plus is blue $5)
