Default Anyone taking fall ASE test in November? or re-test?

I am just curious to know how many people in CL are ASE certified and what are their certification(s).

Fall is here and I have done minimum study on Steering/Suspension and Heating and A/C. I have taken the Heating and A/C and I failed. I don't have much experience on recovering the A/C due to most of the questions are based on recovering and preserving the environment. I have never taken Suspension before and hope I do all well when November come. Any pointers would be appreciated.

I have only obtain 2 certifications so far: Electrical and Brake. Brake was easy.

My advice to u is to buy a quality study guide and read the whole thing twice. That's how I got master certfied. There are a lot if tricky questions that have 2 correct answers, but they want the" better" one

I found that once I had the necessary experience, 2 years, that I didn't have to study for any of it at all. I don't have my A/C cert, got out of the business before I got a chance to go take it, and didn't feel the need after, but, first off, are you MACS certified? You know that is a legal requirement to even touch A/C equipment in a shop environment correct? If the A/C exam has a lot to do with recovery, then the book they send you to study for the MACS exam should have all the info you need regarding equipment and procedures...

especially if you are not a great test taker, the study guides are great... my old work provided them for us, which was nice, but they can be found on ebay and amazon for the paper version, and I believe you can even find online study guides as well...

I had thought about renewing mine (they don't expire for a couple more years), but I have no need to right now as I am not in the field anymore...

I've only experience A/C system in a tech school. There were a lot of students and the course lasted only for 2 weeks only. Each of us only had a chance to use the equipment once or twice. I am now using ATC to study and another text book I got from Barns and Nobel. I haven't had too much first hand experience with A/C and that limits my understanding of questions when taking the test and you are right orge, there is always 2 answers that are right but only one is correct. I hope I do well this next test.

you do know you are supposed to have 2 years of experience in the field before you actually get the ASE cert right?

I know. I did 2 complete years in tech school, 3 years as auto parts sales and 4 years as industrial parts sale. The 2 weeks was referred to only A/C study. I pretty much forgot most of the stuff I learned due to being a parts sale instead of a mechanic.

Get yourself a good set of guides, and you'll be good.

What guides do you recommend? There are several guides that I have used and some information is helpful but at times, it's not so useful. There are a lot of guides out there but I know that a lot of them are junk because I have first hand experience it myself. I just want to prepare myself at best to pass 2 more test this year.

Thanks for your input

I'm using Motoring Age ASE books,i think they are pretty good study guides a lot of questions and a lot of information in these books. Although my instructors have told me if you do good in tests in class, you should have no trouble passing ASE tests. I am gonna be taking A1 Engine Repair and A5 Brakes this month.
