Lexus of Manhattan is the worst dealership
Here is the story,
Found the car that I liked 99 GS400 w/navigation from one
of the dealreships and took it for diagnostic ($98) to what is
suppose to be the best dealership in NY (Lexus of Manhattan)
It took them two hours to check it out and they found that
one of the sensors was not working properly and they said
that they would need another two hours to test/fix and it
would be covered by the warranty. I went to pick up my
car and saw a lady who was complaining saying that
her car was heat on the fender and it had 50 more
miles on it, I did not pay much attention to it at that time.
Next week I come back and drop off my car for testing 8am,
they call me on my cell and ask me to pick up my car (11am).
I come back to pick up my car and they tell me that they reset
the code and drove the car and the code did not come back.
I went to pick up my car and I see the driver flying out from
the service area in my car, I did not say anything at that time,
so I take the key from the driver and see a white stripe
on the fender of the car, I look at it closely and its a big scratch
1in wide and 5in long. I ask the driver what happen to the car
and he smiles at me and says speak to the manager. I call the
manager, he looks at the damage and smiles, I think what
the f$$k is wrong with this place, he says they will take it upstairs
and get it fixed, I say ok. So I wait for someone to pick the car
and I see the same driver, I say h$ll no, get into my car and drive
away.
Sorry this is long, but I hope this story will help someone else.

leogsx97,
That is a horrible story.
I feel for you.. Nothing like not being able to trust the Lexus Dealer in your area.
However, one bad apple ruins the bunch. Fortunately they took responsibility and are remedying the situation. Best of luck with that.
With that said, I feel that every dealership deserves a chance. Hopefully as a CL approved vendor since yesterday, they will prove to be a great resource.

I don't know if I broke any forum rules but I just wanted to
state my opinion which is based on facts. I am saying these
because I just received PM from someone and they said that
the message was inoppropriate.
I did not just post my opinion, it was based on what happend
to my car at their dealership. I paid a lot of money for my car
and it did not have one scratch on it, if they offer 15% discount
and decide to drive my car like its a race car on the race track
and in the process damage it, I don't need there 15% discount.
If the moderator decide to close the thread, I have no problem
with it, as far as me dealing with that delreship, I would not
deal with them if it was the last dealership on the planet.
The only reason I posted the thread is to help others,
people who own lexus are not kids and can make their own
decesions. I just listed facts, please draw you own conclusions.
If moderators feel that this thread is unappropriate, please
close it.

Where this thread is going
First of all, yes there are forum rules with respect to "airing" issues with vendor sponsors.
Second, the bigger issue here Leo, is that when the dealership offered to fix the problem, but you packed up and left. The fact that the dealership stood up and said yes the accident happened but we will make it right goes a long way, yet you took it upon yourself to overreact, get pi$$ed off and walk before the situation could be remedied.
As far as the rip-off report article goes the vehicle in question was a pre-owned and from what I was told not certified. The dealership was trying to work with the customer, but the customer was being completely unreasonable. As you can see by the article only one side is being told.
As for the woman who was yelling and screaming about the damage to her car and the extra mileage. Her car was sent out to a body shop, and when it came back it was not to the service managers liking and he sent it back to be re-painted, that's why the extra mileage. As far as the other damage she was yelling about it was rock chips on her hood from higway driving that another customer overheard her telling her husband that she knew they were there and that she would cause a scene in order to have the dealership fix it, as if it was their fault.
So as far as the original post being inappropriate...yeah, I think it was given the fact that you declined the dealerships good faith offer to remedy the situation. The dealership and its managers are standup guys and if you think they are trying to buy us off with a 15% discount that's your opinion. Go to any dealership and ask them how much they budget per month in their service overhead for "bump and tap" this is what happens occasionally at dealerships that are tight on space...everyone here has seen first hand that most dealerships park cars right on top of each other. It happens, it was an accident and you overreacted.

Johnny MO,
How much does Lexus of Manhattan pay you per week to defend their mistakes?
Are they hiring...cause if they are..they are the best dealer in the whole wide world.

Take a look and you'll see that I defend all dealerships when I feel that they have been inappropriately chastised by a member. Warnock is not even a sponsor and as you can see this member admitted he may have overreacted and that the dealership did right by him.
If you are asking me if I have a vested interest in defending Lexus of Manhattan, I have never hidden from anyone on this site that my wife works there. I have a very good relationship with all of the people there, including the owners.
I also went out of my way to get them to sponsor the club and help fellow members out, so if in some of my replies, as it pertains to Lexus of Manhattan I will be fair, but I will also try and tell their side of the story that may not have been told the first time out.

I think I've said this before with other Lexus dealerships.
It isn't what they did that makes them the "worst dealership", it is their reaction. If the manager came out and started to openly laugh at you and call the police in the process, yes, I think you do have a legit point. Yes, that happened to a member here on ClubLexus.
But scratching your car and then not giving them the opportunity to fix it, is well, harsh to call them the "worst dealership".
I'm not immune to mistakes by the dealership. They've forgotten to put things back into place and actually made a mess to the entire interior more than just once. All the times they screwed up (trust me, I've had my share of mistakes) after talking to the service manager, he would always rush out while barking two of the techs to get it fixed immediately.
What you wrote is very objective; however, your title isn't very objective.
But in any case, good luck.

I said it before and I will say it again draw your own
conclusions.
Here are the facts
1. They drive too fast, and they damage cars
in the process. Not just my car, not much to argue about here.
2. When I asked why there is a big scratch on my
car, the guy smiled and said speak to the manager.
I don't think that appropriate. I don't think it was funny
nor was it nice. First he damages the car and then he
smiles at me.
3. The managere also thaugh it was funny?
4. They wanted the same guy who damaged my car
in the first place to drive it again, and I saw how he
drives (other guys there are no better).
4. I am very happy that I did not let them drive/fix my
car after an incedent. They would probably replace my
engine and transmisson a few times, and then try
to put me in jail.
5. I am not saying the whole dealership is bad,
I am just saying that there are at least three
people that are not happy with the service,
and the people that helped me should find new jobs.

This is the worst experience I ever had with the
dealership. Please draw your own conclusions.
