Default *CAUTION* with the Lexus Savings Card

If you are one of the lucky Lexus owners who has received a Lexus V.I.P Savings Card then you know what I am about to say. If you haven't received one, you should still read this and be aware when you receive it.

After reading the email I got from Lexus and the document that the card was attached to, I thought this savings card was a gift card with $1000.00 on it, that I could only use at a Lexus dealership. I also thought that whenever I used it, I would get an additonal 10% off of my purchases......Boy was I mistaken.

Using my example above i had to learn the hard way today that this Savings Card is a card of 10% discounts. For example, if i purchase 5 parts totaling $100.00 each and i present the card, I will receive 10% off of each part totalling to a $50.00 discount. So the $50.00 is deducted from my V.I.P. Saving card while I am still left to pay $450.00.

I was under the impression that in a matter of speaking this card was $1,000.00 Lexus bucks if there is such a thing, so I had a few things taken care of that I have been putting off totalling to $975.00. Well I went to pick up my car and guess what? I was stuck with a bill for $975.00. Not too happy at this point.

I just wanted to share in my pain hoping someone reading this would not have to make the same mistake I did.

Good luck.

Is that something from Lexus Corporate or was it sent out by a dealership? That sounds like a marketing deal that dealers usually send out. Also sounds like you should have read the fine print a bit better, and definately should have spoken to the service advisor about the card upon write-up to make sure everyone understood what was going on.

Default Lexus V.I.P Savings Card

Used mine for service....got the bill...showed the Lexus V.I.P. card..15 percent deducted off my bill....still able to use the card...

I suspect it is from the dealer...nothing to do with Lexus Corp at all...

The cashier lady even thought it was a credit card too and couldn't figure out why she couldn't swipe it.

I will have to read the letter again and see if i missed anything but I don't think I did. The card can only be used at my dealership. I can't even go to another Lexus dealer and use the card.

True..IT IS NOT A CREDIT CARD AT ALL....just a marketing gimmick by the dealership...can only be used at the issuing dealership.

Going to use it again today ...15 per cent off is 15 per cent....

I thought it was a gift card too. I don't have the card, but that's the impression I got from the cards.

It's also good for a complimentary oil change and if you want synthetic oil, pay an additional $30 give or take.

Absolutely!! I got one of these from my local Lexus dealer. It is fairly clearly spelled on the card what it actually is: 15% discount on service and parts, and $500 off "your best deal" on a new or used Lexus". Sweet!
