Hi, was wondering if anyone can help direct me on a noise I have when my 400h is idling, this noise has a mind of its own and does it when ever but when it does its usually in spurs of non stop a few seconds or closer apart. It almost sounds like a crunching sound coming from the transaxle area (drivers side lower). Yesterday I bent down to try and hear it and noticed the tire seemed to pulse a bit at the noise time. Ive changed all fluids and the noise is not much differant. This one scares me!!

This noise is only present when the gas engine is on and its in park. It almost sounds like its coming from the trans axle (CVT or some call it transmission) or maybe the inverter if that is located there. There was one time when i turned the key to "start" it made this noise or similar for about three or four seconds straight before engaging the cold start. It is sparatic and some times doesn"t do it at all and other times every second to three or four seconds until I put it in drive. Wow I can't believe Im the only one who has experienced this. I have 150000 miles and will be paying large for something thats not noticable enough. I will see if I can video this. Thanks for reading.

ISC reset.
One of the symptoms is "Transmission gear clatter at idle is more pronounced". The original TSB for the ISC reset was specifically for 2006 models. I just posted a TSB I found today that applies to the 2008 models. So every year of the RX400h needs the ISC reset done if the battery is disconnected or run below 7 volts. (the auxilliary battery, not the traction battery).
You should peruse the hybrid forum here and also www.lexusownersclub.com hybrid forum. I've posted lots of TSBs there, and directions on how to do the ISC reset yourself, without the Lexus computer (the TSB shows the directions for a technician at the dealership with the special service computer).

Yes i think that may be a good lead to follow, I was looking up info on the MG1 and now I think it started when I disconnected the battery for a plug change. I did some reset of some sort where you hold your foot on the brake and light up the battery to full but will check into this. Do you know if it has or is causing damage the way it is??
Thanks.
Thanks.

Did you managed to get it sorted our but resetting the TSB? It has been a very old post but I am having same issue after disconnecting the batter. It wasnt there before so it may be something related to ISC reset.
Thanks.
