Sounds like a lifter bucket out of adjustment...

Under each camshaft lobe is a bucket that sits on top of the valve spring. On top of the bucket is a shim that can be changed. Its not uncommon for the bottom of the bucket to get worn and cause excessive clearance, causing noise. Is it an easy job? No.. but it can be done at home. If the bucket itself is worn, it should be replaced, but if its just a bit out of adjustment, you can swap the shims out. This is usually best left to a shop, since they have an assortment of shims to swap in and out.

oh wow that deep. ya def left to shop. 2 things
1) is this a serious problem now or in future.or damage other engine parts?
2) how long in hrs will it take to change it.

Also my friend told me "valve train is wearing out"..is that same thing what you are saying

thanks

It likely wont damage anything else, but its only going to get worse. A valve cover gasket job is usually 3-4 hours of labor, add another hour to check the valves, and if its a simply shim change, shouldnt be much, if any, additional labor. But if a bucket is to blame, removal of the specific cam is required, thats another couple hours.

As far as your friend's comment, in a crude way, he is correct. The bucket wears on the bottom where it contacts to the top of the valve stem. So yes, your valve train could be worn.

could it be that bearings or tensioner be loose ?..but this noise is so random. like today there was no noise @ all. Had it for 1 yr or so.
Just want to make sure to check the outisde 1st before opening the engine. (just in case)

those things are a pain to set up on a fresh engine out of the car...

that doesn't coincide with the a/c compressor turning on and off does it?

hmm nope..from the video for example i had to drive with all windows down just incase the camera falls off. but no the sound is there regardless of a/c turned on or off..

the lexus mechanic did tried this to reproduce the same noise when the car is idling:
he pressed on brake and pressed on gas pedal @ same time..when the engine was in high rev we could hear the same noise. Only thing was he couldnt pin point the noise.. ..But @ that point he was saying tensioner..but he had doubts too.

then I agree with RTIS.... have to pull the valve covers and check valve lash with a good set of feeler gauges to verify...

if one of the buckets does need replaced, its a pretty decent sized job, timing belt included...
