wiper blades

I recently had mine replaced with the 60,000 mile service. That made them a part of the $800 combo package. What a deal, eh?
Nonetheless, I didn't realize how badly my old ones needed replacing. It was a dramatic difference!

I replace the refills every 6 months. $11 CAD for both. Here's the part#
85214-50100
85214-30310
Replace is easy. Pull the old blade out, remove the metal strips, install the metal strips on the new blades, slide the new blade into the wiper. Sounds easy? It is easy.

My experience with wiper blades is like this.
The rubber compound is very important. This plays a big role in how long it takes for them to wear out as well.
Silicon wiper blades are the best for sweeping water off of glass. BOSCH makes great wiper blades for these applications. (Speaking of which I better go get some.)
Hope this helps
Use BOSCH if you go with a replacement blade because they work better than the other replacements

my bosche blades came like that also... i think it's the compound in the rubber that makes it like that. ..

I remember the same Consumer Reports article referenced above mentioning that Toyota OEM wiper blade refills were excellent and performed very well.
Maybe you can get the same refills from a Toyota dealer and not have to pay the Lexus markup? My local Lexus dealer charges quite a bit over list price on parts. The Toyota dealer next to it charges just a bit over list. And a Toyota dealer further away is 40% cheaper on a lot of things.
