Default Replacing Window Regulator

My regulator went out this morning. Dealership wants almost 400 for it. I hear the part is 65 bucks pluys 3 or 4 hours of labor. What I want to know is how hard the job is really. I am fairly handy. Im curious as to what tools I may need and how id go about doing it. Any help is appreciated.

I have never done it on a Lexus but i have done it on a few Hondas its pretty easy. All you need is a socket set. Once you take the dor panel off you shoudl see the bolts holding the reg. in ones you take those off the unit should fold down and you should be able to pull it out through a hole in the bottem or somthing. To reinstall reverse the steps. Might be good to have someone help you its kinda tricky to alline the window.

Default I had to do mine

Its not to hard. Maybe a 6 on a scale of 1-10. The only wierd thing is that the bolts that you have to take out have 4 holes in then so u need a special tool. I just used one of those locking pliers. Pm me if u have any further questions.

How so? You think they charge too much time to do the job, or their rate is too high?

they charge 90 bucks an hour here in atlanta...which is less than new york, where im from. They also say its oging to take almost 3 hours, in addition they want 160 bucks for a 65 dollar part.

I mean just taking your car to the dearlership to fix anything is a ripoff. If u can do it yourself and save mopre than 50% of the totall cost of the dealer i say go for it.

I would not pay more than 2 hours labor to do a window regulator on a 94 sc300. Yes I think 3-4 hours labor is too high.

Sorry to hear everybody thinks going to ANY dealer is a rip-off. Thats great if you can DIY and save 50%. But most owners can't repair their cars themselves. But dont group all dealers together.
