With modern advances in engine technology, you can use synthetic oil at any time. Factory fill on most Mercedes, BMW and Corvettes is Mobil1.
I just built a motor for my IS300, ran about 100 miles on straight 30 weight oil, then switched straight to Mobil1 5w-30...

ya i was using regular ..then went to synthetic blend and boom!! right to full synthetic..but this is Pennzoil ( was on sale) on my Volvo S80 and i like it. I could have gone straight to full synthetic but i wanted to try all types of oil. Plus everytime i go to Walmart for buy oil they are always having discount..

its best to switch to synthetic oil early since it will protect your car when it's still new. Some people switch at 100k which is still fine. I personally would switch the day I purchased the car because i like to have it done asap, but it makes more sense to wait until your first oil change to do it. Also do some research on which brand you like best. Lots of people like Mobil1 as its a top brand. For an IS-F I would go with an high end brand of oil like Mobil1. I personally only want to use Eneos oil on my lexus even though its more expensive than Mobil1 but i think its worth it.

No issues there. I watched many engines that were custom built or crate engines put into vehicles (both racing/non-racing) down in Mexico and no issues with the synthetic.
