I live near Palm Springs, CA and just got a quote of $900 for the 60,000 mile service from the local dealer here. The service does not include changing the brake fluid, the suspension fluid or repacking the front wheel bearings as called for in the manual.

This seems like a high price to me. Is this what others have been experiencing? Does anyone know of a GOOD mechanic in the Southern California area who could perform this service. I don't mind paying for quality work, but my experience with the local dealer, Desert Lexus has not been the best.

Bill, you're getting off easy. My 2002 LX 470 is in for its 60k, and we are being billed 1100.00$. My husband just about had an aneurism. Go online, and compare to make sure that all regularly scheduled issues will be replaced, inspected, filled and flushed. If so, then consider yourself lucky. That maintenance is more expensive in other locations.
