I'd noticed a bog in my car around 2,000-3,000 rpm,and didn't think it'd always been there.
Did a good cleaning of the pcv valve with some CRC,after removing it from the car, replaced it,and the bog is no longer.
The valve inside wasn't totally bad,it just hung-up instead of moving freely.
fyi.

I've had my SC400 for 5 years and 40K and have never checked it!
Where is it, and how is it removed?
(No need to tell me how how to clean it- THAT I already know!)

I replaced mine. PCV valve was like 4 bucks.
stand facing the engine compartment from the front of the car.
look toward the right rear of the engine
there should be a hose sticking out
remove the hose (when I removed i had 2-3 drops of oil come out of it) I took the hose out and rinsed the inside (came out with more gunk)
the PCV valve has to be yanked out (I used a needle nose plier)
I wiped the hole with like 10 Q-tips and it was finally clean.
I pushed the new PCV valve in the grommet and the hose(make sure the hose is dry)

Thanks to you both for the help- mine was in there pretty tight, but I finally yanked it out. I didn't realize it was made of metal- I always thought they were made of plastic.
It looks like a tube, with a free-sliding plug, and a spring to keep it closed. Given how simple it is, I just gave it a good q-tip cleaning and reinstalled it, rather than replacing it.
