Default Map update.

Does anyone know if the new map updates (2013) are user installable.
I called the dealer and it seems they want $169 for the software and $100 LABOR to do a software install which I gather is on a USB.
seems pricey for a software install.

Car: 2010 IS-F

I was told no by some and no by the dealer. Others have suggested yes. I just paid the dealer to do it so I didn't have to worry about messing something up. Was worth $50 to me.

$100 would have made me rethink that though...
Be nice to know if someone had done it successfully though. I think the issue is some password/code/sequence they do to make it work. Otherwise you could just by a DVD on eBay from last year and someone who is upgrading. I was told to avoid this route.

Can't do the update by DVD as far as I know.

The map update is only able to be done through the dealer unfortunately... The USB key is only used to "unlock" the navigation update tool used by the dealership.. basically a software license. So unless you have a Techstream, the Lexus nav update tool, and the USB drive, you're going to have to go to the dealer.

Thanks, that confirms what I've been seeing.
Don't like the $100 labor charge for it.

If it makes you feel any better, the process does take between 30-45 minutes to load the new data...

My dealer quoted me 200 parts and 260 labor!! I would gladly shell out a couple of hundred for the update.
