Default Lexus #1 in Durability/Quality for 7 straight years

Lexus still most durable
Toyota luxury brand keeps top spot in Power survey
By Ed Garsten / Associated Press

DETROIT -- Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota Motor Corp., scored highest for the seventh straight year in the J.D. Power and Associates vehicle durability study released Thursday.
The study examines the durability of vehicles after four or five years of ownership and is based on survey responses from more than 40,000 owners and lessees of 1997 model year cars and trucks.
According to the study, Lexus vehicles had 173 problems per 100 vehicles -- or 1.73 problems a vehicle -- compared with an industry average in the study of 382 problems per 100 vehicles.
"They have a focus on long-term quality other manufacturers don't," said Brian Walters, director of product research at J.D. Power.
Last year, 1996 models averaged 4.48 problems per vehicle after 4 years of ownership, indicating the long-term reliability of cars and trucks continues to improve.

That story is from November, 2001.

JD Power announced, on November 21, 2002, that
Lexus ranked highest in long-term dependability for
the eighth consecutive year.

That article in Club Lexus has been posted for a long time.

This just shows that a lot of people just go straight for the Forums and ignored the rest.

Looks like they only listed the ones above the industry average.
