that's excellent info keith. very odd how that works. it looks like lexus designed they're heater cores a bit differently from other cars. i'll talk tech with you all day in electronics, but a mechanic i am not. my personal experience was to open my valve and every thing worked fine. of course i kept my fluids correct at all times, so it would be a bit more obvious in my case to go to the valve. isn't it interesting how lexus has done so many things differently than other manufacturers? my guess, that's what makes them great.

can you guys tell me what is wrong ? only my center vents is sending warm air ! The sides doesn't blow nuttin...Why is that ? Are they blocked or something ?

And It happens to me too for the heating...When rolling, everything is great, when I stop, it a lil bit colder...

First thing you should check is the A/C filter. This filter controls the efficiency of air flow through your vents. It could need some replacing, especially on an older ES like yours. I took out the A/C filter in my '01 ES a while back, and it wasn't dirty enough that it needed replacing, but had dust and small leaves so I cleaned them out by hand.

If after replacing the A/C filter and the problem isn't solved, check the A/C refrigerant. Possibly low level of refrigerant, or less likely a leak in a hose. Best to go to a specialized A/C repair shop for this.

Default ES300 A/C filter access

I took these instructions from a search of previous posts on CL.

---------------------------

The filter is on the driver's side, right near the gas pedal. To clean or replace do the following:

1. Remove floor mat.

2. Pull back carpet from right side, working it under the gas pedal.

3. Clip cable tie off wiring harness.

4. Remove large access panel by prying off right portion, moving the panel to the right and removing the left side.

5. Panel holding filters is further to the front of the car. Look for tension clips. The door can be removed.

6. Pull out lower filter. It's hinged halfway to clear the gas pedal. Push down on the gas.

7. If the upper filter has not dropped, fish for it and it will drop.

8. Blow out with compressed air or replace. Considering what a pain it is, you might just replace it and be done with it.

It's a good idea to have a flashlight handy. Good luck
