I won't use any other gas in my cars than Chevron gas. Ask any expert, and they will tell you that there is no finer gasoline that is commercially available. The Techron is an additive that cleans the injectors, etc. It lowers emissions and helps your engine to not knock and ping. You can also buy a Techron gas additive from Chevron stores, or any auto parts store. I use one about every 3,000 miles to further clean things out.

DTPstyle,
Read this link http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...lAdditives.htm
most major oil companies have cleaner additives in their "premium" blends.

I have friends who use the bottled Techron here to pass emissions tests. Whereas once their cars did not pass, now they do pass thanks to Techron, and it won't harm the engine. Plenty of the Bardahl, STP and related garbage may clean the engine, but also hurt it.

Ditto w/the Chevron gas preference(premium).
I did see a case where someone overdosed on the Techron, poured lots of it in the tank and fried the injectors. The guy worked at a Chevron, and wound up getting his injectors replaced under warranty.
Thanks for the tip about smog, might need that someday.

Chevron gas isn't sold in NE Ohio, so I put a bottle of Techron concentrate in about every 5000 miles. In fact, I just picked up a bottle today. However, I noticed in fine print it's marked "For SUV's and Light Trucks" Is this harmful to put in passenger car ('96 ES)? My father had been using this stuff for years in cars, and never had a problem, and neither have I.
Should I not use it? Or just use part of the bottle because of the smaller displacement engine/smaller fuel tank?

when in doubt, read the destructions I always say.
Find a regular bottle of Chevron w/Techron (one that does not state for SUV/Lt truck). Compare the ingredients, pay particular attention to the concentration of each constituent and the total fluid oz. of the bottle. My guess it is probably the same stuff. They are just using an advertising gimick where they prey upon the unsuspecting SUV owner to buy anything that says "For SUVs".
It is funny, my ES (classified as a car) has the same 1MZ-FE engine with the same fuel injectors as the RX300 (classified as an SUV). Why would the FI cleaner be different?
I think it is a marketing ploy on the part of Chevron.

I didn't see any bottles that didn't have the "For SUV's and Light Trucks." on the piece of cardboard attached to the filler neck (the bottle itself has no indication of what type of vehicle to put it into). And I was thinking the same thing about the 1MZ-FE, why would it be just fine to put it into a Highlander or RX, but not an ES sedan. Even if the Highlander/RX have slightly bigger fuel tanks, I don't think my engine's going to blow. I've probably just never noticed the label before.

SCV8,
Some people have also failed their emissions tests....for of all things.....not having new spark plugs. If the spark plugs are not igniting all of the gas....guess what happens....
