Repairing Starfire Pearl
I have had my 2014 ES 350 in the shop for nearly 3 weeks as the body shop struggles to match the Starfire Pearl (077) paint on the rear bumper.
Initially, they replaced the rear bumper (which I suspect was a Chinese knock off) and the paint they used had a light blue tint. A horrible match.
The body shop has a "lifetime warranty" on their work, so I took the car back in over a week ago and have been told they are working with the paint supplier to match the paint. I have held off posting anything negative about the body shop until I see how they resolve the issues.
I keep hearing that Tri-Coat Starfire Pearl is hard to match, yet I purchased the body side mouldings from Lexus and they matched perfectly. Our car has been kept in a garage its entire life and only has 7,000 miles on it, so I doubt the paint has faded.
Has anyone else had problems getting Starfire Pearl to match?

Its definitely a hard color to match, but a good paint shop should be able to match it.
Bear in mind too, that the paint color of the urethane bumper will always be SLIGHTLY different than that of the metal panels on the car. If you look around at cars you'll commonly see a little difference.
Do you have any pictures you can post?

I did not take any photos of the first attempt, but will as soon as I get the car back this time. If they are taking this long, they must be trying to get it right.

Hopefully they get it right. I want to repair my front and rear bumper but I'm scared it will be totally off since I have a '06 Crystal white

I got my car back yesterday afternoon. The paint is a better match than the first attempt, but still not a "perfect" match. The fitment issues with the bumper still exist, so I guess I have to live with that. On the first attempt, the car was in the shop for a week. This last visit was two weeks. At some point you just have to accept that they cannot do it perfectly and move on.

Would you mind posting pictures? The only reason I ask is that I have that 3-stage paint and just curious about the results.
Showing pictures of the respray and OE body panel in one photo would be great if possible.

I think my biggest disappointment is the use of a non-OEM bumper. The body lines just don't look like what you expect to see on a Lexus.

Hi guys
Q , I am about to buy a used Lexus from a used car dealer and after the inspection report from Lexus , they
tell me the left rear 1/4 panel has been repainted . I got the pictures from the used car dealer in direct
sun about 10 feet away and you cannot see the mismatch . How easy is it to match the Pearl white
On the fenders and not the plastic bumpers
From 1 ft away, the used car dealer took some close up and he agrees the pearls does look different
I was planning to buy this car sight unseen but that idea now I know the repaint might change.
does anyone have a white pearl fender repainted ?
Thx

Yup can never beat the factory original paint job. I'd rather the engine and transmission be blown up and holes in them than any sort of body damage. Body and paint is the most difficult thing to fix and fix correctly.
