Talking ES300 60K eval with questions

Well boys, I have to say my 1998 lexus is doing great. It has about 62K miles and running smooth has can be. I am now going to change both O2 sensors, rad cap, gas cap, fuel filter, PVC and air filter. I might not have to do some of these, but I will never have to change the sensors, gas cap or fuel filter ever again. I figure it is cheaper then having something major got wrong.

I still want to do the plugs and wires myself but I have to take a hard look this weekend. I hate paying dealers to do this work. I figure when they do the timing belt at around 75K I will have then throw a new water pump (w/gasket), hoses and collant on. Since it is already taken apart.

Questions:

#1 Does anyone, or has anyone taken off the charcol canister to clean? Easy or do not bother to clean?

#2: When do all of you re-pack the front wheel barrings (if at all)?

#3 Any of you have a "metal" raddles by the ebrake with taking hard left hand corners?

#4 Is there an easy way to do them?

#5 ANYTHING I HAVE MISSED THAT NEEDS ATTENTION OF KEEP AN EYE ON?

****Thanks to everyone that has posted answers to my questions. They are of great help!!!

I am in the same boat except we have 121,000 miles on our 98 ES300.
Do you really need to do all that for you r 60K service?
I thought you just need to change the oil, oil filter, radiator fluid, transmission oil, diffferential oil, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter. I may be missing something but I am planning to buy the manual and hope that it will be detailed enough to complete these minor service items.

Have you looked into the service manual for the items that you want to do?

I second that.
The Charcoal Canister and front wheel bearing are not serviceable items.

It was $42 for the fuel filter, PVC and air filter with OEM parts. It might not be worth it but for the $42 it is cheap maintaince. The O2 sensors were around $250 for all three. Not a bad. the performance did kick up a little.

To me it was worth the money since I will never do these items again.

I remeber reading that the Charcoal Canister must be cleaned. So I guess that is a money maker?
