Advice Needed Air Suspension converted to shocks on 06 LX470
I am working with a dealer on buying a 06 lx470. He gave me the price which is extremely reasonable and then added that the had the air suspension converted to shocks. This car has 176k, 2 owner Charleston S.C. clean Carfax with regular maintenance and is out the door at 17,982.47. I was excited until he informed me about the conversion. Should I be concerned? Is this common? I really am out there on my own making this decision and would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's common across all brands with air suspension. Usually a small leak is ignored. It then ruins the air compressor which is always expensive. At that point the shop ends up giving an estimate to replace the entire air suspension. This runs into four thousand and up. So companies make basically coil overs to replace the air suspension. So for a thousand they can fix the suspension. I would say on a car with that many miles it's probably a good thing you won't have to maybe spend that kind of money to fix a failed air suspension.

Thank you for replying. I went back and test drove it and a engine service light was on in addition to trac. control lights so I got spooked and and am still looking. But it almost makes me want to go back and take another look now that you told me how much the conversion would cost if I bought another one and it went out. I appreciate you responding!

I had a slow leak in my Land Rovers air suspension. I took a look at it before my compressor had yo over work. The problem was the front distribution block. A $75 part. Not a big deal. I actually didn't even spend that. I took it apart spent $5 on new O rings. No more leak, and I'm not allowing a little problem to become a big problem. my point is take care of problems when small can save you big time.
