95 ES300 A/C Filter

Is the A/C filter located in the square white plastic thing (almost like a vent) that protrudes out from the bottom of the dash at a point which is way ABOVE the gas pedal and is connectted to a long white plastic vent?? so it's not anything located under the carpet??? I liftted up the carpet and saw no compartmet near the gas pedal. I only saw a white plastic vent protrusion which was directly above the gas pedal BUT high enough where it comess out from under the dash and is immediately visible upon sticking your head under the wheel. Please clarify.

I read all the other threads and could find no definitive answer.
