Transmission issues please help, no overdrive and skips 2nd gear
Hello, I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help solve my problem.
i bought a 2005 Lexus es330 about 2 years ago it has 200,000 miles on it now. A few days ago the check engine light came on and my transmission lost overdrive and 1st gear, maybe even 2nd gear. So very slow take off from a dead stop. But the next morning I gained 1st gear back but it skips 2nd gear goes to 3rd gear and 4th gear and still no overdrive.
I drove it to my local auto parts store and had them scan for codes, these are the codes that came up,
p0335-crankshaft position sensor "A" circuit
p0340-crankshaft position sensor "A" bank 1
p0345-crankshaft position sensor "A" bank2
p0705-transmission range sensor malfunction
p0713-transmission fluid temperature sensor "A" high input
p0778-pressure control solenoid "B" electrical
p2770-torque converter clutch solenoid circuit
B2799-engine immobilizer malfunction
they had 3 suggestions, rplace ECM replace transmission and reprogram key. But replacing the ECM and transmission are both expensive replacements. But I am finding salvaged or remanufactured ECM for $200 and less, that I can replace my self.
I quess my question is, would replacing just the ECM most likely solve the issues. Also I read that if I buy a salvaged ECM from another Lexus that I will need that key from the salvaged Lexus to program my key. Or can a locksmith just reprogram my key to the new ECM without the other key.
Thank you, I'd appreciate any advise.

I would start with checking the crankshaft sensor. Those can send engines and transmissions haywire. If its sending the wrong signals back to the ECM about what the engine is doing, the trans will not go into the right gear or will stay in the wrong one.
So, as a technician, my professional opinion based off what I am reading is to start there and follow that trail.

there is a techtip of both P0335 & P0340. check the battery if its getting weak.
also if you can, remove the valve covers and check the thrust washers by the cam. if they are good, the last step is a new ECU.
you can ask your dealer for a ECM update and reset shift points after you change the transmission fluid.
