Jerry,
You are on the right track, it is vitally important to take care of your transmission fluid.
A complete flush is a near an impossibility to the DIY crowd.
Not sure of your mileage , but empty the transmision pan , then refill, every 12,000 miles or so if you use the vehicle for light towing & you should be fine. You will not be replacing all of the fluid at once ( most likely not even a 1/4! ) but this will protect the valve body & filter screen & prolong the life of the transmission.

Damon, Thanks for the reply, Although I appreciate your expounding on the need for good transmission maintenance, as in another long ago life I was a transmission-engine rebuilder. I was looking for a little more technical information. I have a complete home/garage with a 30 year collection of tools: air compressor, hoist, engine and trans and paint/body equipment. Although I have not proffessionly done this type of work in about 20 years (real estate investing has paid more than auto work). I still have a mechanical aptitude and room temp + IQ. I believe with a little direction from some of our mechanically inclined members I might be able to do this job myself and not have some numb nutted kid work on my baby! How about disconnecting the trans cooler lines and blowing air threw one line to flush the old oil out? How aboutrunning a suction line down the dipstick tub and sucking some oil out? Last but not least remove the pan and clean or replace the filter. Help!!! any step above DYI mechanics that have FLUSHED there trans oil that are reading this? Thak you, Please.

to flush the transmission correctly you have to have a special tool that most DIY guys dont have because the cost of the tool versus the use we would give it is not that great of a return. anyways this unit plugs into ports on the tranny and completely flushes the old fluid out and cycles new in. if you were to just remove the pan you would not get all of the fluidout of the transmission. There is still fluid in the converter and other places.

BOREDGUY77, Thank you for your reply about the trans ports. I wonder if blowing air threw one of them would fource old fluid out the other? Just a thought. Jerry

you may want to try the instruction posted on my webpage.
lexus does it for $100 (labor only), not a bad deal at all, I would rather have them do it, bring my own oil since I can get the oil cheaper from toyota hee hee
