I need to know the total capacity of my transmission. I'm gonna try and do subsequent 2 qt changes until I get a 75% or so mix of new Type 4 fluid.
What would it hurt to overfill the transmission by 1 qt to try and get a quicker higher concentration of new fluid? Just did a little driving around the subdivision. No long term driving...
The guy that works on my car told me to not do the total ATF flush. He said he had seen too many transmission problems arise after flushing all the stuff around. He said to drain from the pan and leave what is sitting on the bottom...on the bottom
I don't know

since when is flushing a bad technique... i would rather take it to the toyota dealer to have them flush it
and supply them yourselve with a case of Type -IV
I did that about 1 month ago and my car runs like no other

It's true that on a very worn/neglected/abused trans a full flush might cause more probs than it solves, but our trannys are very solid. They are also clean- you might find some metal filings in there, but that's about it.
And that's easily proved by dropping your trans pan. If everything looks good in there you are 'rhet to go for a full flush, which takes 12-14 quarts/liters. And in the unlikely event that it has some crud in there, well, then that's your opportunity to get it out.
If you'd still rather try the 2 qts. at a time technique, you can get more than 2 qts. out each time by draining with the engine/trans hot and draining overnight.
