Default Well how do you like that lexus Service!

I went to work this moring car started up fine no problems, but when I got off and started up my car to go home my car wouldn't start. I look to see if I had any lights on that would cause your battery to go dead but everythings fine . My friend had jumpstarted my car but when he took off the covers on the battery. Erosion had built up and rotten the clip that connects to the battery. Now I think to when Lexus changes your oil and gives you 20-point car inspection which includes looking at the battery this shouldn't even happen.

Do you have to pay them to look at the battery or what?

Not sure if thats included in the 20 pt. inspection....it may be a catch 22 for them....damn if you do and damn if you dont.

Seriously, you need to check this regularly yourself, now that you know its corroding. It will happen again unless you do something about it. I check this every time I wash the car.

You may want to look at getting some anti-corroding liquid. I know Sears Roebuck gives them away for free when you buy a new battery from them.

Last car I had do that had a faulty ground cable off the battery. Might want to watch it for a while, if it comes right back, there might be something else going on that Lexus service isn't going to catch in a routine inspection.

I don't think "examine battery cables" is one of the services afforded during any services, and maybe I'm being tad cynical here, but if you never look at your battery cables to the point where corrosion builds up, I think you have bigger problems.....

I'll premtivgely apologize if that offends you, but your comments seems to reek of shurking responsibility for one of the most non-technical pieces of equipment on the car.

the 20 point checks are visual checks... they don't lift a finger... it says so in the fine print...

Hey just asking a couple of you must work in the service department "OFFENDED ARE WE" don't have to get so uptight and the fine print on my booklet didn't say what fingers they do lift or don't. I don't know much about what goes on under the hood but if I paid $50,000 for a car you can at least inform me whats going on with my car. Now that this is something thats needs be check more on my behalf I will make sure I do tha for now.t.

i understand where you're comming from... normally my local dealer has be awesome when it came to service...

and I don't work for a lexus dealer or service shop..

I didn't mean to offend you.... just wanted to express my dissatisfaction to the particular event you went through.

Yeah I'm not saying they need to clean it for me, but if you see this coming from under the cap which is a visual check you should let me know. I needed front and rear brakes for my car they wanted to charge me up the wall for it. I went to my regular mechanic that always serviced honda that I use to own and he change them and said didn't rear brakes just the front I had at least another year that were in good shape. Your Lexus dealer is good, but other may go through something different. Thats a little upset with but oh well I this lets me know to check for things inside and out. Thanks

angely2j...I understand your pain...My car battery just died on me too...but my cars a 2000...I procrastinated in looking at the battery for about a month...then finally the other day "no crank"!!!...Pure Dead Battery!!!...Its due to my lack of checking the battery though...Come to find out when I bought my Optima battery and was gonna change it that the dealership I bought my car from didn't check the battery area either and I found out that my Ground cable for the battery wasnt even clamped on tight!!!...Hahaha!...But anyways, I fixed that problem and never been happier with the new battery...Optimas are the Shizzle!!!...Car starts and runs much better!!!...But the dealer also tried to pull some shiesty stuff too...Like over inflating the tires so that it doesnt look so runnout (front tires at 90psi measured)...By the way, this wasnt a Lexus dealer so dont worry about it...but I ended up changing all my tires to yokohama ES100's...These tires are great too (Highly Recommended)!!!...Anyways, hope your situation gets better!!!...Try some anti-corrosion/cleaner spray...works great!!!

Aloha,
The G-Child
