I find it pretty easy to do this also in my 99 RX. Though with using the synthetic ATF, I change it every year rather than every month. Brake fluid I change out more often.

I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF & did the job myself. I noticed an improvement in the steering system with the switch to synthetic.

Mobil 1 ATF is a good choice, and I have plenty of friends who import this stuff just for this purpose alone. Personally, I use a Valvoline PowerSyn for my PS and Brake fluid. As I mentioned before, this stuff gives me much better stopping power and handling ability, and has virtually no contamination like the Toyota fluid. Mobil 1 ATF will accomplish the same. Several friends with BMWs have also use Mobil 1 ATF, and had oustanding results.

i'm using Red Line Power Steering Fluid in my car, i don't feel comfortable using Dex III in the PSP. Even the stuff Toyota puts in is a clear brown, it's not ATF.

Default Power steering fluid WHAT KIND?

So twice the dealership hasnt topped off the fluids. Now I hear a whining,, So I assumed it is the power steering being the fluid has been low.

What kind do I use to replace it? Manual states ATR Dextron II or III ,, Lexus dealership said to use Honda power steering less foaming..

Would be nice to have this done today or tomorrow.

Any one?

I know this is old...
Any New Dexron ATF is fine and backwards compatible with previous versions.
Dexron VI is safe for Previous versions.
Also, NEVER have your car flushed, just change the fluids on a regular interval.
Flushing can and will damage your car.

Dex II or III is red, the stuff from the factory was clear. You can use Dex II or III and even mix with the clear stuff if you have a leak.
