here is the problem, at low rpms (2000-3000) i occasionally get a raspy-scraping noise coming from the under carriage. It sounds transmission related, but naturally i can't replicate it at the dealer. it can happen for a day or two, then nothing for a week.

any knowledge is appreciated

This could be a split manifold, probably the accordion area. The two pieces of metal may be clanging against each other on bumps.

Had the same problem this year with a 99 gs300. The dealer said it was the catalytic converter but what was replaced was the "exhaust front pipe sub assembly". It was replaced under the drivetrain warranty.

Hoop, you and I are talking about the same exact part. Mine was already out of warranty (and in Mexico), so I had my mechanic weld it shut.
