that would be about the limit I would push it to with the synthetic. I just go every 5000 cause it is easier for me to do the math on when to change next and it gives me a comforting piece of mind.
If you look at the Lexus maint. schedule, they have two tracks: 1.) for easy driving--every 7500 mi and 2.) for heavy driving--every 5000 mile and those are for dino oil.

With my 99 RX, I change every 3,500 miles or so, slightly less in the summer, with Mobil 1 15W-50 (altitude reason) in Mexico City.
Even with the synthetic, I can physically tell that the oil needs changing. This is a very hostile environment to a car.
In the States, I was changing it about every 5,000 miles or so with 5W-30.
