Question Brakes service at Toyota?

Has anyone had their brakes serviced at a Toyota dealership/service shop? If so, are the replaced parts pretty much the same as from a Lexus dealership but at a cheaper price? I'm thinking of bringing my ES in for that pretty soon. The brakes don't really grab the instant after I press the brake pedal anymore, and sometimes I can feel the steering wheel slightly shake when I brake at highway speeds. At the very least, I'll probably have the pads replaced and rotors resurfaced. Just as a FYI, here are the quotes I got from the following dealerships:

1) Toyota = $270 (no loaner)
2) Lexus 'X' = $280-$300
3) Lexus 'Y' = $340

The stated quotes are for either front or rear pad assemblies. Any input is much appreciated, thanks.

depends on what they are serving in the waiting room.

It is not a long job, so you could hang in the waitng room. I would stick with Lexus unless they say they can't turn a rotor and can only replace rotor, then I would go to Toyota.

Parts will be the same. But there's hardly a difference in price between one of the Lexus dealers and the Toyota dealer. Might as well do it at Lexus and get the loaner car, or drink and chow down on the food in the waiting room.

Smile Brakes serviced

Got the brakes inspected (at no charge) and serviced at McDermott Lexus in New Haven, CT. The diagnosis: all 4 rotors need to be resurfaced. Pads are in OK condition. I guess it's a good thing I brought the car in at the right time before the rotors become warped, which would mean replacement. At any rate, I paid $250 plus tax, and the job took 2 hours. No loaner available, but the waiting room and the pre-owned fleet helped me kill the time. When I took the car home, the braking felt exceptionally better and smoother than before at any speed

That was the first time I tried that dealership, McDermott Lexus, and I must say my experience there went without a hitch. The service people were very honest, kind of a rare trait to find in dealerships these days, and they don't rip people off (i.e. no charge on the brake inspection) unlike other Lexus dealerships. The waiting room was just as nice, so I don't really mind if there's no loaner for me I would definitely go back there again for future service.

Yup, Lexus dealer charged me $35 to do a brake inspection a few years back. If I had known they were charging for it, I would've just got an oil change for $40, which has the brake inspection included.

$250 Is not bad, Here in NY Lexus dealer wants over $450 for the front.

NO WAY, I don't understand that price. I have done many pad replacements.
Guess I will do these too...

i get everything i can get done for my ES at the TOYOTA dealer. Same services/parts/etc. costs much, much less with much less BS. i went 3 yrs and 60k between changing pads. rotors were fine. i never get rotors surfaced anyway - waste of money unless you have pulsing, etc. problems or can feel issues.

they always want to surface rotors regardless of whether they need it or not - but i ALWAYS refuse. I would get it done if I could see/feel proof that it's needed. I believe dealership wants to do it because it's a high-margin service.

That includes cutting the rotors? Not bad.

Anyone have their brakes done in the NY area?
Do they replace the rotors for the big $450-500 price?

Thanks
