I have a 92 SC300 with 72K miles and eventually believed that I got familiar with Lexus SC (I did some work around the car including spark plugs replacement and some PS work as well). So we bought second Lexus for my son. This time it was 92 SC400 with 132 K miles.
He just passed emission test and used the car for a week with no problem. This morning I have decided to check the battery on the car at AutoZone. The guy connected a battery probe device to the battery and asked me to start the car. I started the car and engine practically immediately stopped. I restarted the car and after a couple of attempts the engine was able to idle. With comments “your battery is okay” the guy just waked away. Well, since that times the engine loosing RPM and shots down immediately after start.
Really do not know what to do!
Any ideas or comments?
Thanks

GOLDSc300,
Exactly what did he do when he connected the tester to the car? Why did he ask you to start it up? Did he do the load test BEFORE asking you to start the car and then asked you to start the car to check for voltage and if the alternator was charging? If he knew what he was doing then your problem is not related to the incident.
From what you said... he immediately asked you to start the car?.. Which means he screwed up, caused a major load to be applied while the car was running, could have killed your alternator (if your battery light is not on let's hope it's not an intermitant short) AND caused a misreading on the load test for the battery.
Your battery should be removed for the load test. Bring along a 10mm wrench and pull the battery in front of the Autozone parking lot... or pull it at home and use another car to bring it in for checking.
The load could have caused sensors to go out of spec. I would check your throttle position sensor first, and work your way to all the other sensors.
Luck
