I just picked up a packet of Phoenix Systems individually wrapped test strips. One end is Copper Corrosion level for brake fluid. The other end is dual test, ph level and freeze/boil point for coolant. It was easy to use, just dip into fluid reservoir and wait 30 seconds for brake side and 90 seconds for coolant side. Compare the color on the stick to the packaging. My car, a 2013 LS 460 with 59k miles tested really good for coolant and still in the safe zone for brakes. For $17 it is a nice way to help you decide when to do these fluid changes as you approach the recommended mileage in the maintenance schedule. It's nice to know that there's another test for brakes besides moisture content. BTW, it is approved to test OAT coolant, which is what Lexus cars use.
Bump - anyone use these test strips as an absolute go / no-go maintenance program?
Today I tested 10 year old IS350 and 13 year old Tundra that shows no history of coolant change and my street bike with conventional Preston antifreeze. The bike was the only one hinting at pH corrosion inhibitor being less than optimal.
I've had the car for the last 5 years and would guess it's the original fluid from 2013.
