Hi Everyone,
I am hoping if someone knows any web site or manuals about a particular Lexus model (GS400, ES300, etc) that can show you how to do maintenace by yourself. Also, which will help you identify all the parts and troubleshoot problems.
Any good recommendations?
Thanks

if you got the ducats ($$$$) go with the actual shop manuals available from the Lexus part guy.
If not, then look into Hayes or Chilton. I know Hayes has one for the 97-01 ES, I don't know about any other model. The CD manuals on ebay are just a compilation of PDF files copied from a manual. I have heard mixed emotions from those.

Speaking of Hayes and Chilton, a good place to browse through those particular books is at Border Book & Cafe, and Barnes & Noble. Last time I checked at my local Border, there was none listed for Lexus, but you should check it out in your area.

The factory service manuals are a good way to go and the one for our '97 is sufficient for most tasks. However it presumes the reader has a basic understanding of typical maintenance procedures. The exploded diagrams are good and they do give a step-by-step disassembly/assembly along with torque specs. However they do omit some smaller things...
I've gone back to other Toyota service manuals to get a better understanding of some of the particular component assemblies. Most are basically the same and some early manuals are almost like a guide for "dummies".
The procedure for bleeding/flushing the power steering for the '97 LS followed the same steps as outlined in an '85 Toyota manual, however the '85 manual was more descriptive.
It may be steep but after a modest DIY repair, the book has paid for itself.

Thanks for all the infos, I guess a good understanding of the mechanical system and having the proper tools are just as important as having a good manual.
So many things to learn and so little time.

A 3/8" drive socket set including: deep and regular sockets, extensions, breaker bar along with a metric set of open end wrenches and screw drivers will do. A torque wrench is also a nice addition. Aside from the hand tools, a good floor jack and stands. This should cover basic maintenance and thensome.
The dealer has a brochure outlining scheduled maintenance, along with the factory service manual you'll get a feel what you may want to take on or not.
I've sent private mails to a variety of auto book dealers on eBay asking if they had factory service manuals for certain cars. Quite frequently, they can get them so you can save some additional $$ if you don't mind a used copy.
