I had a sucessful change and replacement of the tranny fluid in my 97 LS400 today in the driveway. I bought a pair of car ramps and that helped immensley.
First I drained the pan. That was about 3qts. I used a large 2 qt. plastic measuring pitcher.
Then I poured 3 qts of new OEM tranny fluid back in and disconnected the cooling lines from the radiator.
I had my son start the car while I pointed the smaller of the two rubber hoses into the pitcher which was sitting in an oil drain pan to catch splash over.
Filled the pitcher up with 2 qts. Stopped the engine, put in 2 qts; started the engine, filled the pitcher with 2 qts; stopped the engine, put in 2 qts, started the engine, filled pitcher with 2 qts which came out very clear and red; stopped the engine and put in 2 qts.
The process went pretty smooth for anyone interested in doing it.
