Angry Pwr antenna is broken

I have a 95 LS400 with a broken power antenna. It makes a loud grinding sound and just stays up. My questions are:

- How to take out the old one?
- Is there an equivalent replacement other than the Lexus factory antenna?

Thanks.

Sound like the antenna cable is broken inside the motor, but you can just buy the antenna mast from Lexus for around $70.00. You have to remove the antenna nut( using a small needle nose piers or a flat head screw driver to turn the nut), then remove the trunk covers to get to the 2- 10mm nuts that hold the power antenna motor. Then remove all the philip head screws around the round plastic part to remove the broken cable.
I recommend to stay with the factory antenna for the factory look.

Thanks.

So the steps are:

1. remove the antenna nut from the top
2. remove the cover from inside the trunk
3. disconnect the antenna plastic part by removing the screws
4. remove or pull out the old antenna from the top (outside)
5. then insert the new antenna and fasten it to the motor

Right?

Since the motor makes this grinding sound, I assume the mast is the only piece that I need to buy from the dealer.

Thanks again for your help.

1. Remove the antenna nut from the top.
2.Pull out the old mast(metal part fromt the top.
3. Remove the trunk cover, disconnect the antenna and remove 2-10mm nuts.
4. With antenna assembly out of the car, remove all the screws and nut that hold the round plastic cover on the bottom part of the assembly.
5. After remove the round plastic cover you will see the broken piece inside and then reassembly it.
6. Reinstall antenna assembly back into the car and turn the radio on.
7. Insert new antenna mast into the motor and have someone help you turn off the radio while you're feed the antenna cable(mast) back into the motor. Good luck.

The plastic mast/gear may be broken off inside the antenna motor.
After the old one is removed, compare the lenght of it to the new one.
If it's shorter, you'll have to remove and dissassemble the antenne moter and remove the broken piece. (easy to do)
