I'm looking to buy another Lex, how much does it cost for it to be inspected inside and out? How long would this process take me? Thanks in advance...

I just purchased a one owner 93 sc 300 and had it inspected at Lexus. The total time was 3.5 hours and total cost was $179.00. I have to say they missed quite a bit and were trying to sell me a 120k service like you wouldn't believe! (to their credit, had it worked the dealer would have been $1700.00 ahead that day!)

Lucky for me that I didn't fall off the turnip truck on my way over to the dealer!!

In Atlanta, the cost is $80.00 at the dealership( 1 hour labor) for the pre-purchase inspection. Including check the body damage/paint work/body work, check the vin# on every panel, test drive, check brake, lights, belts, hoses,engine and transmission,etc,.. And then they just give you list of what it need to be done(not try to up sale you anything) and the advisor or the tech either come talk to you and tell you either buy it or not to buy it. All whole thing should take less than 2 hours from the write up, check out and then car wash.

Sorry forgot to mention that I asked for compression test and leakdown, this may have added to the price.

Thanks for the info...I called up the "infamous bad rep" Bay Ridge Lexus...They said 89 dollars for a diagonstic...

Would I have to schedule a appointment for a diagonistic of this kind? Do they ask for registation and driver's license also?

appointment is needed. Didn't need my DL or registration (don't know if the owner had to bring his though). The one thing they did need from me was my credit card!
