I just got off the phone with my local Lexus delearship and was told that the 75K mile service included an oil change and changing of the timing belt. I was under the impression that the belt was replaced as part of the 90k mile service, which is correct. I have 73K miles on my 98 GS400 and would hate to have to fork up that money for the 75K service if the belt has to be replaced.
Thanks,
DG

The maintenance handbook of Lexus dealership here recommends timing belt and timing belt at 90K service. 75K service only replaces engine oil/filter, air filter, A/T fluid, differential oil and numerous inspections and rotate tires.

Yet another example of "dealer recommended" service far in excess of what the mfgr recommends. My owners manual shows 90k as a very large service. 75K isn't much even with the "special operating conditions" procedures.
Tell the service dept that you only want what's shown for the 75k service in your owner's manual.

mooretorque, this begs the question why Lexus doesn't require its dealerships (are they franchised) to adopt a standard set of maintenance protocols as prescribed by Lexus.
There seems to be a lot of confusion, and from dealer maintenance recommendations I have, some, uh costly, inconsistencies with the manufacturers owner's manual.
